Blowing the Dust Off

November 1st, 2010 Scraps

Not of the project, unfortunately, but at least of this blog.

(And, yes, I had to reset the password again. Sigh.)

Wedding Tarot is hanging out in a folder in my office. The Big Project that is the current time-sap? What to Feed Your Raiding Party, a comic-book cookbook. I wish I could at least say that Raiding Party was on the massive to-do list before Wedding Tarot decided to evolve into a graphic novel but, no, it was a few months after that revelation that the cookbook popped into my mind and a good 2 years before any serious work was done on it.

On the upside? Drawing the comic sections of the cookbook are giving me a MUCH better idea of what it’s going to take to make Wedding Tarot real. It’s going to be a bitch is what it’s going to be, but it’ll be my bitch, so it’s okay.

At any rate, this year is all about the cookbook. Then it’ll be all about wrapping up a webcomic project and then, then? Then it’ll be Wedding Tarot’s turn.

But this blog space? Oh, yes, I’ve got a job for it!

Confession Time

I still use the little meanings booklets when I read Tarot.

I know! I know, I know, I know.

I’ve been researching Tarot on and off for years. I do readings sporadically. But what I’ve found is that the massive research sessions and piles of notes?

They don’t stick.

Because it’s too much at once and not really personal.

So it’s now time to get personal.

Last night I was inspired, it being Halloween–or the pagan Samhain, the end of the year as I understand it–to do a reading for the upcoming year. Not that I’m pagan (or anything, really), it just seemed like the right thing to do.

Then I did a little math and decided that focusing on one card every 4 or 5 days would get me through the entire deck in a year.

Sounds like a plan, huh?

So I’m going to give it a shot. And, while I could just journal and take notes about it on my own, I figured putting it up on this blog might not be a bad thing–after all, it’s just sitting here, collecting dust. Maybe something I say, a connection I make between the card and it’s meaning, will help someone else. Maybe not. I’m sure there are a 1,001 other blogs that already do this. But that’s okay, because this is mine.

I think what I’ll do, though, is wait until I’ve sat with each of the cards for their 4 or 5 days, then post whatever I came up with. So the first post on this new track will go up Thursday night-ish.
